Level Indicator
The level indicator, shown in the upper left of the Main Window, gives the microphone level (during a Live Rehearsal) or the audio playback level (during Rehearsal Review).
During live rehearsal, the level indicator should hover around 3/4 of the way to the top, though it will fluctuate with your dynamics, of course. If the circle above the indicator becomes red, this shows the level is too high and that the resulting audio will be distorted or "clipped." If the circle never shows dark green, the microphone level is too low. If the level indicator remains at the bottom of the range while recording there is a problem with your microphone settings. For instance, you may not have any microphone plugged in. Or, if you may have connected you microphone to a different source than was chosen in Audio Setup.. Or the external mixer or volume controls may have muted the microphone or set the level too low.
Run the Audio Settings test to help in setting your microphone and speaker levels appropriately.
